About Orange County California
Whereas most population centers in the United States tend to be identified by a major city, there is no defined urban center to Orange County as there generally is in other areas with one dominant municipal entity. It is almost uniformly suburban, except for some older urban areas such as downtown Santa Ana. Five Orange County cities have populations exceeding 170,000.
It is also famous for its tourist destinations, as the county is home to such attractions as Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm, as well as nationally known centers of religious worship, such as Crystal Cathedral, Saddleback Church, and Calvary Chapel. It is often portrayed in the media as an affluent and politically powerful region. Irvine is the county's primary business hub.
Thirty-four incorporated cities are located in Orange County; the newest is Aliso Viejo, which was incorporated in 2001. Anaheim is the oldest, incorporated in 1870 when the region was part of Los Angeles County.

About Los Angeles County

Los Angeles County has the largest population of any county in the nation, exceeded by only eight states. Approximately 27 percent of California’s residents live here. More than 1 million of the 10.3 million residents live in unincorporated areas, whose municipal services are provided by the County. The other 9.3 million live in 88 cities, located throughout a 4,084-square-mile area.
There are 1.7 million students in elementary and high school, and many thousands more in college, including those in 27 public community colleges and universities. Approximately 73,000 residents are homeless. It is a diverse county, with more than 140 cultures and as many as 224 languages by some estimates. A language other than English is spoken in 54 percent of the households. Providing services to such a diverse population is challenging, evidenced by required printing of ballots in seven languages.
